To create the third of its three new turntable concepts, the Firebird, Dr. Feickert Analogue could have taken the simple route of modifying the electronics of the Woodpecker and the Blackbird. Instead the Firebird, true to its name, was re-envisioned from the ground up, starting with a blank design board and the creation of an all-new electronics package. Additionally, the team completely rewrote the software, taking multi-motor-turntable operation to a new level.
The Firebird is designed around a unique equilateral triangle based three-motor configuration This triangular configuration goes beyond single- and dual-motor designs in further the reducing drag force on the bearing, providing enhanced stabilization of the bearing/platter assembly by canceling out virtually all of the acting forces. All tendencies toward gyration are effectively eliminated. Combining this innovation with the all-new bearing (used in the Woodpecker and Blackbird models as well) – which reduces the area of contact by 80 percent – the Firebird achieves even lower friction, with the greatest reduction of rumble, wow, and flutter.
The Firebird is available by itself or as part of a complete package that includes a 12″ Jelco tonearm and the Acoustical Systems Arché headshell. In both cases, the Firebird is available standard in piano black lacquer or in optional rosewood (pictured).
